America's future export-oriented economy?

Notice what this article says about the dollar and exports. Something to think about with respect to the Freeman/Friedman discussion. Will the growth of a middle-class in Asia result in a more export-oriented economy in the U.S., as well as (or instead of) a more personal-service-oriented economy?

Great article! First, I was just excited to read it because I understood all of the terminology and referencing in it, which made me very happy. Second, it seems as if this may be a really good thing for our economy. When we first talked about the dollar weakening I have to admit it scared me but I thinking closing the trade gap and decreasing the trade deficit is not only a good thing but necessary. The world is moving and we need to move too. I think that overall this article gives an excellent summation of current issues, talking about jobs moving (the idea of losing 17,000 American jobs and relocating ~9000 to India is kind of frightening), the strength of the euro and what that means for Germany, and the Bush adminstration trying to get China to revalue its currency. Overall, interesting link. Thanks for sharing.
